Gaming Boards

We currently make 3 gaming boards - chess, cribbage and backgammon. The boards veneered over a stable substrate and framed with solid wood. The bottom is covered with a balancing veneer to prevent warping and felt pad feet are applied to prevent scratches.

Chess boards are made to international specifications with 2" x 2" squares plus a 1" band around the perimeter for a finished size of approximately 18" x 18" x 3/4" thick. Any veneer is available but the most popular for the light squares are birdseye maple, figured sycamore, fiddleback maple, and figured anigre. Dark squares choices are walnut burl, pomelle sapelle, figured makore and waterfall bubinga among others. For other choices, see the veneer sample page or drop us an email at info@musial.ws

Cribbage boards are approximately 8" x 18 " x 1/2 " thick. The field is either light or dark and every other set of 5 holes is done in a contrasting color as well as matching arcs and corner pieces. The most popular configuration is a 3 player continuous track board with a contrasting band at the skunk line. All sets include a deck of cards, game instructions and a set of brass, stainless steel and black pegs. Boards can be created in other configurations as well (4 player, 2 player, larger, smaller, etc.) We will also work closely with you to design your perfect board and designs can include such classical motifs as sand shaded fans, shells, basketweave borders, or whatever you have in mind.

Backgammon boards are available in any size but our standard is 18" x 18" x 3/4". They consist of 4 woods - the field, light, dark points and the perimeter band. Like cribbage boards, they can be as plain or fancy as you wish with many decorations available for the field or just let the natural beauty of the veneer take center stage.

Please note - chess boards and backgammon boards do not come with playing pieces as most people have very specific tastes or already have favorite pieces and are just looking for a board to complement the existing set.
